Dear friends,
At Kirrin Finch, we believe every person should be able to represent themselves authentically. That’s why we started a clothing company that gives folks options outside of the traditional gender binary.
At the core of our company, we believe in the power of community and providing support and representation to LGBTQ+ folks. Since the inception of Kirrin Finch, we have donated to organizations such as the The Ali Forney Center, The Trevor Project and SAGE, to name a few.
As Kirrin Finch’s platform grows, we view it as our responsibility to support efforts to end discrimination and violence towards LGBTQ+ people happening every day here in the US and around the globe. As such, we are committing to donating 1% of all sales to LGBTQ+ focused charities with a minimum annual donation of $25,000.
Given the current situation in Texas with anti-trans directives against gender-affirming healthcare for trans youth, the recent “Don’t Say Gay” Bill in Florida, and the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war, it is essential we start these giving efforts right away. To that end we will be donating $5000 each to two organizations we believe have a direct impact in supporting these causes:
Lambda Legal is the oldest and largest national led organization whose mission is to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of LGBT people and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.
Texas Gov. Abbot recently directed the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to investigate gender-affirming care for transgender youth as child abuse. Lambda Legal, in concert with the ACLU and ACLU Texas, has sued to block Texas from investigating parents who are supporting their children obtaining gender-affirming medical care. It is completely unconscionable that trans youth lose access to essential, life-saving gender-affirming health care.
Rainbow Railroad is a global not-for-profit organization that helps LGTBQI+ people facing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics. In a time when there are more displaced people than ever before, LGBTQI+ people are uniquely vulnerable due to systemic, state-enabled homophobia and transphobia. These factors either displace them in their own country or prevent them from escaping harm. Rainbow Railroad has helped over 1,600 LGBTQI+ individuals find safety through emergency relocation and other forms of assistance.
If you are able, please join us in donating to these amazing organizations. You can also get involved by writing letters to your senators urging them to pass the Equality Act, a landmark bill that would expand existing federal laws to protect people from discrimination based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Thank you for all your support!
