Real Weddings: Galen & Jae

Real Weddings: Galen & Jae

Tell us about yourselves!

We live in California with our puppies, Coco and Bino. Galen is a military veteran and an incredible NICU nurse. Jae is getting ready to apply to a diagnostic medical sonography program, but until then, she’s happy to be a stay-at-home wife. We’re some travel freaks! Our favorite place we’ve been to is Tokyo, and we’re actually going back in February for Galen’s birthday. When we’re not traveling, we’re going to concerts and turning our house into a home—we’re big on home decor!

How did you two meet?

We met on Hinge! We matched, and the rest was history.

What was important to you in planning your wedding day?

For Jae, putting the ring on the correct finger was the most important part! Besides that, making sure our closest family members could be there and finding a photographer whose style we liked. A married friend told us how important pictures are on your wedding day, and that she took lots. Little did she know that she would lose some of those people the following year. Life is short, and we have to capture precious moments. But for us, we wanted to look good and have fun while doing it!

How did you go about choosing what to wear for the wedding day?

Galen knew she was wearing a tuxedo. She’d heard of Kirrin Finch but decided to test her luck at a suit store, where she received terrible customer service. Plus, the suits didn’t fit because (of course) they were made for men. She told Jae she was going to take a leap of faith and order her tux online at Kirrin Finch—and she’s so happy she did. For Jae, looking for a dress was probably the hardest thing she’s ever had to do. After a trip with her mom and closest friend, she decided to go wedding dress shopping alone, and ended up finding the one.

How did you feel when you first saw yourself in your wedding suit?

Galen couldn't stop cheesing. She instantly FaceTimed Jae and both of their moms. She felt so fly and classy, and knew she had made the right decision because the suit felt like it was made for her. It fit exactly how she wanted it to.

Which Kirrin Finch pieces did you wear?

The Kirrin White Tuxedo Shirt, The Kirrin Noir Tuxedo Pants, The Kirrin Ivory Tuxedo Suit Blazer

What were some of the most special memories from your wedding day?

Galen’s mom was the officiant, a memory we’ll treasure, and just seeing friends and family that had traveled to be there for us. For Galen, seeing Jae in her dress is a memory that will be forever etched in her mind. We’re both so happy we paid for a photographer because the photos will really last a lifetime. You can feel how happy and excited we were in them. We were able to roam around city hall, just us and the photographer, which gave us time to fully process that we were actually married.
